Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Waste Clearance Greenwich in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Waste Clearance Greenwich operates in the waste management and clearance sector, working with a range of suppliers, contractors, and partners to deliver responsible and compliant services to our customers.

Our Zero-Tolerance Policy

Waste Clearance Greenwich maintains a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, and human trafficking. We are committed to conducting our business ethically and with integrity, and to ensuring that there is no modern slavery within our own operations or those of our suppliers. Our expectations are communicated clearly to employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers, and compliance with these standards is a condition of working with us.

We expect everyone who represents Waste Clearance Greenwich to uphold the highest standards of human rights and labour practices. Any suspected breach of our zero-tolerance policy will be treated as a serious matter and may result in disciplinary action, contract termination, or referral to law enforcement authorities where appropriate.

Our Supply Chain and Supplier Audits

Our supply chain includes providers of vehicles, fuel, equipment, protective workwear, waste transfer and recycling facilities, and various professional services. We recognise that risks of modern slavery can exist at different levels of these supply chains, particularly in higher-risk sectors or regions.

To manage these risks, we carry out proportionate due diligence on new suppliers and contractors before engagement. This process may include requesting information about their labour practices, policies, and certifications, as well as reviewing publicly available information where relevant.

We also reserve the right to conduct audits or reviews of existing suppliers, either remotely or on site, to assess compliance with our modern slavery expectations. Where potential concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to understand the issue and seek appropriate remediation. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our standards, we will consider ending the relationship and seeking alternative providers.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

Waste Clearance Greenwich encourages anyone connected with our business, including employees, agency staff, contractors, and suppliers, to report any concerns related to modern slavery or human trafficking. Concerns may include suspected exploitation, unsafe or inhumane working conditions, withholding of wages or identity documents, or intimidation and threats.

Employees can raise concerns directly with their line manager, a senior manager, or the human resources function, either in person or in writing. Contractors and suppliers can report concerns to their primary Waste Clearance Greenwich contact or to a senior manager. We will treat all reports seriously, handle information sensitively, and seek to protect the confidentiality of individuals raising concerns where possible.

No one will suffer retaliation or disadvantage for reporting a concern in good faith, even if it is ultimately not substantiated. Where there is an indication that modern slavery may be present, we will act promptly to investigate, take remedial steps, and, where necessary, cooperate with relevant authorities.

Training, Awareness, and Responsibilities

Managers and staff with responsibility for procurement, supplier management, and site operations are made aware of our modern slavery expectations and how to identify potential signs of exploitation. Responsibilities for implementing this statement rest with senior management, who oversee risk assessment, due diligence, and any necessary corrective actions.

We continue to seek opportunities to improve our awareness and controls in relation to modern slavery, including reviewing guidance from relevant industry bodies and regulatory sources.

Monitoring and Annual Review

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed at least annually by senior management to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and aligned with our business operations and legal obligations. As part of the review, we consider any incidents or concerns raised, changes in our supply chain, and developments in best practice. Where necessary, we update our procedures, training, and supplier requirements to strengthen our approach.

The updated statement is then approved at senior level and communicated internally and externally as appropriate. Waste Clearance Greenwich is committed to continual improvement in identifying, preventing, and addressing the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
